We all want homes where quality time is spent, and memories are made - no matter how cold it is outside!

Now it's easier than ever with Electro-Flex Underfloor Heating. Electro-Flex installs Danfoss (Europe's #1 name in underfloor heating) heating mats and cables to ensure your entire home remains at a comfortable temperature without any fuss; open flames or exposed heating elements. Because of optimal heat distribution and retention, Danfoss is also up to 40% more energy efficient than other heating technologies, making Electro-Flex the natural choice for quality living in your home.

Why underfloor heating?

  • Better comfort - Uniform warmth with no hot or cold spots
  • Safer - No open flames, smoke, exposed elements or wires
  • Healthier - Does not dry air or circulate dust and mites
  • More convenient - Intelligent programmable thermostat
  • More affordable - Save up to 40% on electricity
  • Maintenance free - Will last as long as your house

Why Electro-Flex?

  • Easy & affordable installation - new or existing floors
  • We only install Danfoss - 60-Year European market leader
  • 10-year guarantee on mats and cables
  • 2-year guarantee on thermostat
  • IEC, ISO 9001 and 14001 compliant
  • Suitable for any floor type

Suitable for any floor type

  • Home Comfort underfloor heating can be installed under any kind of flooring material. The electronic thermostats can be locked to never exceed a certain floor temperature - an important feature for certain types of wooden flooring where the manufacturer's specified maximum temperature may not be exceeded.

Conventional heaters vs. underfloor heating

  • Conventional heaters use a lot of energy to superheat the air - only to send it straight to the ceiling where it cools down before descending as a cool draught around your feet. The convection effect also creates uncomfortable hot and cold spots in the room and circulates dust and mites, potentially affecting asthma sufferers.
  • Underfloor heating gently radiates heat from across the entire floor surface. Warm air rises slowly and creates a uniform room climate with the air slightly warmer at foot level than at head height. Because of optimal thermal positioning and better overall heat retention, comfort levels are reached at lower energy consumption rates - resulting in electricity savings of up to 40%.

Intelligent, programmable thermostats

  • Whereas most other thermostats only switch the heat on/off, Home Comfort thermostats allow you to set different preferred temperatures for different times of the day. The system is equipped with temperature sensors in the floor, and higher up in the room. You just "set and forget" and the intelligent timer/thermostat will automatically maintain your selected comfort levels at all times, irrespective of outside temperature.

Now, find out how affordable it is!

To choose the correct mat for your room, use the right hand column to find your room size.  In the next column the appropriate mat size is indicated.  If your room is bigger than the room sizes listed, please combine two or more mats to get to the required size.

Choose the correct thermostat for you

The DIY kit comes with a choice between two high quality thermostats.

The Danfoss 132 offers you a simple elegant design with enduring product quality while accurately controlling your room temperature.

The world patented Danfoss 550 is the most advanced thermostat available in the South Africa market.  Where other thermostats simply switch on and off, the Danfoss 550 offers and advanced 'set and forget' computerised programming schedule.

With the easy to use program, the system can be programmed for every day of the year with up to 336 timer setting per week!  Thanks to the superior computerised technology the Danfoss 550 adapts and learns about the specific condition of the room in which you place it.

Truly a 'set and forget' system allowing YOU to decide on YOUR own comfort level and energy bill.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make sure you are protected

The most important part of fault detection is fault prevention, which is managed through a community monitor.  This is temporarily connected to the heating mat until the tiling is completed.  If the wire is broken or damaged, an alarm sounds.  This can be repaired by using the Repair kit with instructions available from your CTM store.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plan the layout of the mat in the room

The layout is easily defined and achieved by following
these simple steps:

  • Start by measuring the free surface area and make a sketch of the room, indicating the position of the thermostat.
  • Add the layout of the mat to the drawing.  The
length of the mat is shown on the table above, while it is 0.5m wide.  Remember the mat must start and end at the wall where it started.
  • If more than on e mat is used, please make sure that all the wires come together at the thermostat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Install the senosr Cable

Cut a channel approximately 10mm deep and wide in the wall and the floor, from the thermostat and around 1m out into the floor.  Glue the flexo pipe for the sensor into this channel, and seal the end of the pipe with a piece of tape

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lay the mat

Clean the floor thoroughly, removing all dirt and soap residue, then lay out the self adhesive cable mat. The floor surface will need to be primed if you are not laying the mat on existing tiles.

Clip through the grey netting to turn the mat over - but make ure that you do not cut through the red cable!

Turn the mat and position it as required.  The self-adhesive effect can withstand 10-20 adjustments, so you can move the mat several times until you are satisfied with the result.

If more than one mat was used, make sure all the wires come together where the thermostat will be fitted.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Electrical Wires

Make sure the Blue and Black wire come to the same point in the room where the Thermostat will be fitted

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Connect the Screamer

Connect the Screamer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tile

Use a notched trowel to cover the table mat with the adhesive and press the tiles into position ... and press the tiles (or other floor covering) into position.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conduit

Fit the trunking to the wall.  This must be done close to an existing plug.  Place the 2 cold tails of the heating mat in the trunking.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Connect the Thermostat

Fit the Thermostat to the wall

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Connect to the Power

Fit these ends of the Thermostat. Connect the earth wires to the earth protection.

NB! Connection to the power supply may ONLY be carried out by an authorised electrician.
